Hi, I'm Lucy, the founder of The Makery Nook.
When it comes to art, I've always loved it - drawing still lifes of my favourite toys, making a guitar with a shoebox and watching Art Attack, wondering why we never owned double-sided sticky tape!
My art degree years were a dream. We got to try all sorts of different mediums - printmaking, life drawing, sculpture, photography, enjoying them all, although I was definitely better at some than others.
Since then, I have progressed in my career, but I've always continued to enjoy art and crafts. In fact, I've become a serial class taker - silversmithing, ceramics, leatherwork, Indian block printing, porcelain clay, oil painting... you name it, I've probably had a go.
One thing I've learnt along the way is that you don't have to good at something to enjoy it. It's the playing, making, experimenting that I love - whether you're on your own or having a laugh with a group of friends. It's simply the having a go that counts.
That's why I wanted to start the Makery Nook, giving people the opportunity to be creative without the pressure of a formal, structured class. There's guidance if you need it, but also the space, materials and freedom to explore, experiment and see where your creativity takes you - whatever the results may be!
